How the ASO Score works
The score only uses what anyone can see on your App Store page, so it’s the same view a shopper — or a competitor — gets. Each category earns points; anything we can’t read (for example, a subtitle Apple didn’t return) is left out of the total instead of counting against you.
| Category | Points | What we check |
|---|---|---|
| Title | 20 | How much of the 30 characters you use, and whether it says what the app does — not just the brand. |
| Subtitle | 15 | Length used, and whether it adds new words instead of repeating the title. |
| Ratings | 20 | Average rating, and how many ratings you have compared with similar apps. |
| Screenshots | 15 | How many of the 10 iPhone slots you fill, and iPad screenshots when your app runs on iPad. |
| Localization | 10 | How many languages your app supports — each one is a chance for its own title, subtitle and keywords. |
| Description | 10 | Depth, a clear opening line, and a layout people can scan on a phone. |
| Updates | 10 | How recently you shipped, and whether release notes say what changed. |
Frequently asked questions
Is the ASO Score free?
Yes. Scoring any public App Store app is free and needs no account. Each report gets a shareable link you can send to your team or post.
Where does the data come from?
Only from Apple’s public App Store listing for the storefront you choose: the title, subtitle, description, screenshots, ratings, supported languages and update history, plus the apps Apple lists as similar.
Why doesn’t the score include my keyword field?
The 100-character keyword field is private to App Store Connect, so nobody outside your team can see it. Connect App Store Connect in Appsium to audit it alongside your title and subtitle.
How often is a report updated?
Reports refresh at most once a day. If your page changed, scoring the app again after 24 hours updates the same shareable link.
Does a high ASO Score guarantee rankings?
No. Apple ranks apps on relevance and user behavior that nobody outside Apple controls. The score measures how well your page uses the levers you do control.
